"Cape-in-Focus"

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

Saturday 20 May - Saturday 27 May 2006

This is an introductory offer of £725 (excluding international flights), nearly 10% off the original price of £785! Places are limited to 12 people.

This 7-day workshop is for photo-enthusiasts of SLR photography (film-loading and digital) who have little or no experience of photography beyond the snapshot. It caters for those who seek to develop their basic camera skills with like-minded people in a beautiful, vibrant and cultural environment. This trip aims to guide you into an exploration of creative picture-taking techniques, so you can take home photographs you are proud of and a travel experience you will remember.

There will be daily workshops where camera techniques will be discussed, followed by excursions to different areas of the Cape, such as the Winelands, Robben Island and a township tour. Accommodation will be at the Lady Victoria Guesthouse, an authentic 1902 Victorian townhouse, with spacious bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms and a swimming pool. Workshops will be held either at the Lady Victoria or in a Cape location as part of the daily excursions.

The techniques discussed will range from the use of filters; light; compositional techniques; night photography as well various SLR camera functions. 1:1 guidance will also be available on the daily expeditions. Please note that this trip focuses on camera and shooting techniques, and not post-production techniques such as Photoshop.

As part of the learning process, there will be an emphasis on image assessment and discussion after each expedition. Film and digital files will be printed using one of the many professional photographic labs in the city.

Make this workshop worth your while and extend your travel time to explore more of South Africa's culture and landscape. There really is so much to see (and photograph!).
